Location: Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Year built: 1994
Architect/ designer: Grounds Kent Architects
Ethos: Redefined modern luxury villa resort

Luxury resorts around the world follow a very similar philosophy – exclusivity, comfort, and hospitality is ingrained into most experiences, but what sets the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay apart from everything else is the Balinese setting and effortless inclusion to the surrounding greenery. When the resort was completed in 1994, it set the standard for contemporary luxury resorts, boasting the honor of being the first individual villa resort of such a big scale with an individual dip pool in every villa. The resort is nestled in the southern tip of Bali in eastern Jimbaran Bay, with 147 villas and newly renovated two years ago. The internal design of the resort was made to mirror Balinese village planning with the village square, the pavilion house with stone-walled courtyard, and village lane. Each villa is built with local materials and thatched roofs, so while the interiors feature the elegance synonymous with the Four Seasons, it all blends in with the local culture seamlessly.

Although each villa has a dipping pool for you to relax in, access to the beach is also close by to fulfill all of your mermaid dreams. It’s a great space for families as each villa is spacious, and the resort has plenty of common spaces to spend time with your loved ones. There’s an adults only pool and a pool with a waterfall that’s perfect for the kids. The highlight of my stay was definitely Sundara Beach Club – the club on site with sun beds and an Olympic-sized pool, complete with a great Sunday brunch. It’s a popular spot for guests and Bali residents alike, and I loved their tapas-style dishes that were all well thought out and delicious. There’s great food and a large breakfast selection throughout the resort. I especially loved the family style Balinese restaurant. The flavors were authentic as they were old family recipes cooked by a Balinese chef, so they were spicy but just the way I like it! The gift shop on premise has a nice selection of local artisanal crafts, which made for great souvenirs. The entire property is serene and beautiful with the added perk of Four Seasons service through and through. Highly recommended for your next getaway or trip with the family!
