Kit Lee

Hello there!  My name is Kit Lee (李潔儀) from London and I’m the latest Star Blogger at ELLE HK, so happy to be part of the online community with my good friends Veronika Li, Elizabeth Lau, and Ophelia Wu.  It’s going to be fun!  First of all, here’s a little biography and questionnaires about myself.

Who are you?

My parents are originally from Hong Kong and China of Hakka descent, I was born in Belfast in Northern Ireland and was raised in London, I have 3 sisters and a brother they’re pretty much scattered all over the cities in London, Perth and Seoul and myself in London and elsewhere.

Formerly a stylist’s assistant to various established fashion stylists for several years and have assisted for luxury publications such as Financial Times – How To Spend It, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Quintessentially, and as well as music videos.  I have previously worked with Baccarat HK and Harpers Bazaar HK as a freelance stylist, now that fashion styling is long gone, no more carrying heavy loads of suitcases and stress spots.  Photography is my new baby.

What is your blog called, when and why did you start it.

I run a fashion and lifestyle blog called STYLE SLICKER for 6.5 years, it was originally (strictly) a street style blog for 2 years before I combined with other genres – lifestyle, food, travel and DIY.  I started the blog in April 2008, it was during that time I was still assisting as a stylist assistant and the UK was going through a recession, it was tough especially when my job role was hanging by its thread, I started searching random things online that would help me inspire, I was already following Style Bubble since 2006, writing isn’t my forte as I’m dyslexic.  I discovered The Sartorialist and Facehunter, and then the story started from there!

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I eat, sleep, travel and work of course!  I’m currently working as a freelance photographer in London, I shoot up-coming and established style bloggers for their respective blogs as well as collaborations with brands and magazines, plus being a UK Ambassador for my favourite luxury handbag brand, MCM.
