The Parker Palm Springs

I needed rest and relaxation after a manic September. Hubby prescribed a dose of Californian blue skies so off we flew! Having already visited Los Angeles earlier this year, we decided to experience a desert resort and settled on Palm Springs. We were lured by its reputation (since the 1920s) as Hollywood's desert playground for celebrities to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of showbiz. The "Two Hour Rule" of Hollywood studios put Palm Springs on the map as a perfect getaway. Actors under contract had to be available within two hours from the studio just in case they were summoned for last minute filming. In Hollywoo...

Shoreditch Shops

I ended up continuously popping in and out of shops that caught my eye whilst wondering around the Shoreditch East London area. Such as… Hand crafted birch furniture at Unto This Last… Cute baby chairs! Unto This Last is at 220 Brick Lane, London E2 7EB (020 7613 0882). The front of Cafe And stocks select designer homeware and the back is a light and airy cafe… Cafe And is at 77 Redchurch Street, London E2 7DJ (020 3487 0980). Opening hours: Wed – Sun 10:30am-6pm; closed on Mon & Tue.   Hostem is a men's clothing store selling the likes of Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester and Junya Wantanabe…I hear they are opening a ...

Maison Trois Garcons

One of my favourite past times when on holiday is to chill out and catch up with friends in quirky cafes. Maison Trois Garcons in Shoreditch is such a place but so much more than just a cafe, as these photographs show… As well as cakes, pastries, teas, coffees and fruit juices, Maison Trois Garcons serves up seasonal salads and light meals. Thank you to the manager who recommended this delicious gado gado salad… The draw is that it is also a retail space for vintage bags and jewellery, lighting, antique furniture, homeware and gifts…everything you see is also for sale. Heaven for interior enthusiasts. Maison Trois Garcons i...

High Tea Of Highgate

On my London "to do" list was to eat my favourite cakes that I missed in Hong Kong. Good old fashioned home baked cakes! High Tea of Highgate is a charming tea room in Highgate Village, North London. I went to school on the same street and it was a shame that this tea room opened after I left. It would have been a guaranteed after school tea time hang out but in hindsight, this was perhaps better for my waistline. The exterior reminds me of my fashion brand's logo colours – dark grey text on a pale pink background. The interior has a quaint English shabby chic vibe, marrying homeware and gifts with scrumptious cakes and sele...

Home Away From Home

Being born and having lived in London nearly all my life, it was strange to spend my summer holiday back in my hometown, and a pleasure to rediscover all the things that I love about this amazing city. South Place Hotel was the base for part of my time in London. Located within the Square Mile and a stone's throw away from St Pauls Cathedral, the River Thames and Tate Modern, South Place Hotel is convenient for all transport links and visiting the neighbourhoods of London. South Place Hotel is the first purpose built hotel in The City Of London in 100 years and it shows. Everything has been planned and thought out with meticulo...
