I’m back after taking a long break from blogging!

Some of you might be wondering why the long absence from ELLE? I have been involved in an exciting project that demanded my utmost full attention – I have set up a new fashion store in Hong Kong as well as designed a collection for Autumn Winter 2014! I will reveal more later on…

Blogging duties resume as from now and I thought I’d start by doing a little post about denim.

The word “denim” originates from the name of a cotton fabric that was first made in Nimes, France for workwear. Denim was traditionally coloured with indigo dye to make the fabric blue. The first denim trousers were made in Genoa, Italy and known as “genes” which later became the contemporary garment “jeans”.

I’m sure most of us have at least 1 pair of jeans in our wardrobe. I have been wearing denim and jeans since I could walk and they have remained a wardrobe staple since. I have denim jeans in many styles – dungarees, ripped, cropped, low riding, high waisted, flared, and of course in unusual cuts that have become a signature look of mine.

Here are some denim looks…

Elizabeth wears: ASOS ripped denim dungarees; ASOS two tone coat; Minimarket wool felt cap; Opening Ceremony brogues.

I love the shape and construction of this cap! It reminds me of the molded wool caps designed by Courreges in the 1960s!

Denim also works well as a trimming as in the case of this Miharayasuhiro distressed sweatshirt with denim fake shirt hem…

Elizabeth wears: Miharayasuhiro sweatshirt from Joyce; Top Shop rubber leggings; Marni sunglasses; Pedder Red circus clutch; Bottega Veneta heels.

I always look for special details or cuts when I buy jeans. These DSquared2 jeans are actually for men but I am wearing the smallest size. They have flexible boning concealed in the side seams to maintain their cut and shape.

Elizabeth wears: Sacai t-shirt from Joyce; Acne blazer; DSquared2 mens jeans from Joyce; Candies pancake bag; ASOS plimsolls.

I love this fun silicon bag! It joins my collection of other fun bags which are begging for a future blog post about just that!

I’m trying out Tom Ford spectacles…

Cliched but true…accessories can transform a simple outfit. I have switched plimsolls for white high heel sandals for my summer in the city look.

Heels from ASOS.

Jeans are such an easy to wear style solution. A classic with heels, sunnies and a stripey top!
