Paris is always a good idea, especially outside fashion week.
Earlier this month I headed over to Paris for a few days, and decided to stay at Le Cinq Codet on the left bank for a change. I’ve always stayed in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd arr. in Paris for work, this is my second time staying on the left bank.

We all know how cool the Scandinavians are, and how the world had fell in love with everything they do. Not only the Danes were happiest people in the world (Norwegians had overtaken now), the best Nordic cuisines, handful of michelin restaurants (NOMA and 108 anyone?) they also have lots of really cool designs, both in clothing and interior in particular. So when I knew that the latest addition to Brøchner Hotels – Hotel Danmark was opening, even as a regular in Copenhagen myself, I couldn’t resist but made a stay there during their opening week in May.

As classy and posh as Paris goes, there is also very cool and chic side of it. Le Roch Hotel & Spa is one fine example. Part of the Design Hotel group, tucked behind the small Rue St Roch, you barely notice this boutique hotel in the heart of the city. The hotel is really very hidden, but the giveaway is there are always 2 very well-dressed men standing at the door to meet and greet you. Redesigned by architect Vincent Bastie, taking a fading public building and transformed it into a neighborhood classic ; Le Roch’s 37 guestrooms and suites feature unique décor by French designer Sarah Lavoine.

Do you know what’s so special about this view? It is the iconic London night view, but also the place I was standing on taking this photo, was where Fred Astaire danced. And as Gene Kelly would later say, dance history begins with Fred Astaire.
