Marylebone has become more and more fashionable, and there are so many nice places to wine and dine. 35 New Cavendish for example is one. Since its launch in November 2014, The Cavendish in the heart of Marylebone, is one of the places that most stylish locals hang out.  This hip bar and all-day brasserie with a relaxed vibe and plush interiors, that combines the characteristics of an old world English pub serves a modern European menu. Being almost 2 years old, this little place managed to stay a well kept secret and only known among those who are “in the know”.



Newly appointed Italian head chef, Douglas Santi. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Santi began his career at the young age of 13 working for Laurent Saudeau – the right hand man of acclaimed chef Paul Bocuse. He also worked under Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse at the renowned Louis XV in Monaco, and spent the next 5 years working at many of Ducasse’s restaurants around the globe.


Spread across two-floors the restaurant and bar are decorated with tones of teal and blue with the interiors envisioned by Concorde Interior Design. The venue features three bespoke bars (one downstairs and two upstairs) with an intimate teal coloured private dining room which can seat up to 20 people and 40 standing.



It is usually very packed at the bar area in the evenings, with hip and stylish locals. It looks like a very masculine pub but when the yellow light is lit in the evening, the atmosphere warms up into a friendly space.


Their signature dish is ‘100 Layers Lasagne’ based on a family recipe handed down to him by his grandmother. On the night of my visit, I had been told they just changed to a new menu. So I ordered a home linguine with lobster (which used to be spicy lobster linguine), truffle chips and my friend who is a vegetarian has a tomato sauce pasta made because she is not a fan of aubergine, the only vegetarian main dish on the menu. I was expecting a wider option of vegetarian dishes or a separate menu, but I guess with the new change in menu there needs to be time to design. What I really love about the food is, the portion is so big- and its affordable price at such a handsome place. The restaurant boasts high-quality cuisine at an amazing value with most menu items costing £20 or below, which is true!

Open 7 days a week, whether you are up for all-day brunch (from 8am to 5pm) offering breakfasts with old school family favourites such as avocado poached eggs, oven baked pancakes with honey and white peaches …drinks, cocktails, lunch, dinner, private party or cigar, there is surely something for everyone. Well pancakes on the outside under the heater or warm winter sun on a crispy winter morning does sounds like a cosy idea…
