Who doesnt love shoes? I do, and by now you should know I’m a shoe-aholic who owns way more than sufficient pairs. So during London Fashion Week, aside from shows there are events that brands would love to take the opportunity to gather everyone in the industry, simply because everyone is everywhere and too busy to gather. It’s such a fun night to meet all these designers again.

Celebrating the opening of the world’s largest luxury shoe destination, now open on the fifth floor of Harrods, a cocktail party was held last week, inviting brilliant designers and editors from international and local publications to share their passion in shoes and enjoy a night after the hectic show schedule. VIP attendees included Suki Waterhouse, Dominic Cooper, Edie Campbell, Otis Ferry, Jourdan Dunn, George Lamb, Jack Guinness, Manolo Blahnink, Charlotte Dellal, Nicholas Kirkwood, Sandra Choi and Rupert Sanderson. Heavenly Old Fashioneds and Dirty Martinis were shaken by some of the world’s most talented bartenders and served from classic cocktail trolleys.  Canapés included alba white truffle risotto cubs, brancaster lobster with tarragon and bisque dressing and mini dark chocolate s’mores.

Harrods Shoe Heaven Launch Party_By Richard Young (2)

Namely The Shoe Heaven, the area spanning almost 42,000 sq ft, consists of  17 plush boutiques presenting collections from over 50 leading designers and brands, from the likes of Chanel, Dior, Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Louis Vuitton and Valentino, lining marble floored corridors, it is truly a shoe lover’s dream. I always had difficulty walking around because I always got distracted by beautiful shoes after beautiful shoes. The only way for me to find my way around the area is by seeing a certain brand of shoe located at a certain area, so that is my navigation and orientation tool. Designed by the late David Collins, with velvet banquet lounge seating, private shopping suites and beautifully edited displays, any shoe lover can easily spend hours or even the whole day in there without knowing how much time has passed. To celebrate the launch, Harrods reveals the limited-edition “Silver Lining” collection showcasing 37 of today’s most iconic shoes in silver – created exclusively for Harrods by designers including Valentino, Manolo Blahnik, Roger Vivier, Christian Louboutin, Rupert Sanderson and Charlotte Olympia.
