London fashion week is always an exciting period in the city. Along with the on going shows and events, Club Monaco decided to hold an event celebrating its opening of the  first flagship women’s and men’s store in the UK. Paying homage to the neighborhood’s rich history of  Georgian architecture, the flagship will feature an eclectic mix of new and vintage furniture pieces.  The new store at 32-33 Sloane Square, SW1W, will be stocking womenswear and accessories.  This prominent corner unit, at the junction with Lower Sloane Street, comprises of 4,000 sq ft of sales space evenly distributed between ground and basement levels. The Sloane Square Women’s flagship store is part of the Club Monaco brand evolution embodied by the re-launch of the global flagship store on Fifth Avenue last November.

Intermingled with elevated wardrobe pieces and accessories, the shop reflects Club Monaco’s transformation from a black and white retailer to an iconic urban fashion brand whose heritage lies in key pieces sprinkled with luxurious elements. The new Club Monaco Collection store offers Londoners   wardrobe staples updated with tailored pieces made of the finest materials — 100% Italian cashmere, silk, genuine shearling, baby camel, and buttery soft Italian leathers.

The interior of the Sloane Square store will be designed by the Club Monaco’s in-house tea. Special features include a custom plaster molding with a unique vine design, which has been created by a local artisan specifically to reflect the interior decoration of the Georgian period.  All flooring has also been sourced locally and re-claimed to reflect the original Georgian style.  The key statement piece is the staircase, which has hand cast iron spindles, and sits below a vintage style chandelier which is also hand made. Minimal, modern with an injection of vintage pieces throughout the store, the brand successfully transformed the space into a cosy home for anyone spending an afternoon there.

The store also worked closely with a florist in London, everything you see in the shop are for sale, and they smartly designed a hatbox for flowers packaging so that you can carry the flowers home safely.

The brand also opened a men’s flagship store on Red Church Street. Purposely naming the shop as “Men’s Shop”, the store has been designed as a shop that aims to draw attention of customers with the clothes and interior rather than the brand. Taking into consideration the atmosphere of the area (East London, Shoreditch area), the hip and vibrant rawness of the neighbourhood is also an inspiration for the design concept. Located at 54 Redchurch Street, E2, comprises of 1200 sq ft, and is housed in the former premises of historic Gun & Rifle Manufacturers, Watson Bros. The interior design of Club Monaco Men’s Shop on Redchurch Street is heavily influenced by the 1800’s and includes the original store front, brass door, and the utilitarian feel of the 1885 gun and rifle manufacturing workshop, which was in residence on Redchurch Street until 2006.  In its former guise as Watson Bros, the ground floor interior has a workshop finish with tools, rifle casings, diagrams and charts curated throughout the shop. London Men's Shop at Red Church_Door Front
The mezzanine floor is a departure from the utilitarian to a more traditional, cozy, wood paneled tailor’s atelier.  Here, antique rugs create warmth and an original Japanese Boro textile quilt, in the style of an American quilt, hangs above a vintage fireplace.

With a huge success of the opening of 2 flagships in the same city, Club Monaco did another incredible thing- an opening event and party at Sloane Square on a Friday night during fashion week. I love Sloane Square but never even thought of anyone could do something like this, I kept asking the COO and design team how did they manage to do this- it was really really incredible and amazing. The night was slightly chilly but beautiful, sitting in an outdoor garden on Sloane Square, served with food, drinks, ice cream, cocktails and live music, tents of specially designed interior and a unique theme of each, mingling with beautiful people, I cannot think of any better ways to spend my Friday night after a hectic day running around for shows in the city!
